DUTIES: Develop marketing plans to drive revenue and profitability growth of the product portfolio
POSITION OVERVIEW
Illumitex is seeking a motivated professional to lead the business development efforts for our rapidly expanding horticulture lighting business. The Segment Manager is responsible for increasing global demand for the Horticulture LED product portfolio.
After completing the necessary market analysis, the Segment Manager will develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure Illumitex remains the global leader in horticulture LED lighting. The responsibilities will include market and segment analysis, competitive analysis, business case development, product portfolio definition, pricing strategy and partnership identification/development. The manager will meet with customers around the world to effectively document the market’s requirements.
The manager will also work with our creative team to develop effective marketing strategies to promote the products through print, web, trade shows and social media outlets. This position will report to the VP Marketing, and will work closely with our horticulture research manager, Sales, Engineering and Operations.
The successful candidate will have successfully sold and/or marketed lighting products in the horticulture market, and will have a very high level of intrinsic motivation.
Responsibilities:
- Develop marketing plans to drive revenue and profitability growth of the product portfolio
- Define and maintain the product portfolio strategy
- Develop new product roadmap and requirements based on market research and customer interviews
- Provide primary interface between Product Engineering team and the customer-focused Sales team
- Identify profitable target markets & applications
- Develop core positioning and messaging for the product
- Develop sales tools, collateral, specification sheets, product demonstrations
- Identify unmet research needs and coordinate experiments with the Research Manager
- Develop and execute a pricing strategy based on the product’s targeted value proposition
- Continually monitor competitive landscape to update our target position in the market
- Travel to meet with global customer base to ensure products are meeting customer requirements
- Domestic and international travel will be required ( <20% on average)
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS in Business, Marketing or Engineering
- Demonstrated success in defining and selling new products
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Intrinsically motivated with a strong drive to achieve business objectives
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA
- BS in Biology, Microbiology, Physiology, Molecular Biology
- 3+ years of product management or sales experience with horticulture lighting
